Soul Cravings
What does your soul crave? Do you feel fulfilled in your career? And have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is? These are questions I have been asking myself for many years. However, it wasn't until I left a job that I no longer aligned with that I began understanding my purpose. The dilemma is that letting go of things that no longer serve us, or in my case, killing my soul, can be terrifying.
According to an article in the New York Times, only 25% of adults have a clear sense of purpose, while 40% claim neutrality or say they don't. I mention this statistic as a reminder that you are not alone if you haven't found a career path that excites you. Everything takes time, and finding your purpose will not happen overnight.
The great news is that you don't have to pull the plug on anything all at once; you can take baby steps. And take it from me; no matter what age, it makes no difference to change your career direction. I believe we are all here to create and have many uniquely different gifts to share. The question is, how do we tap into these gifts.
Firstly, the excellent question is, what are you passionate about, or what drives you? The things in life that inspire and energize you usually indicate your purpose. By tapping into your desires, you can begin to create a vision for yourself to bring them to fruition. From this point, by finding out what you enjoy, you can eventually share with others, build a community, and gain necessary feedback.
Having a sense of purpose brings meaning to your life and has many positive health outcomes. It gives you freedom and gratitude when you can serve others with your gifts. Of course, it takes work and dedication. But, you can begin to embark on the things you love by slowing down and listening to your internal compass.
I'm in the beginning stages of my new career path; honestly, it has been quite scary. And I'm not sure how everything is going to unfold. As a result, I've often felt like throwing in the towel or sometimes lingering feelings of unworthiness. But, by recognizing my false stories, staying on task with my vision, and not giving up, I can trust the process and begin surrendering to the outcome.
Sending light and love,
Lauren
