Last week, I traveled to Tegallalang, home to stunning rice terraces, for a 3-day Ayurvedic detox at @oneworldayurveda. This short yet lovely retreat was a birthday gift to myself—a chance to slow down, reconnect, and explore the possibility of committing to a full-week program. I was sold!
Ayurveda first came into my life about 10 years ago, shortly after losing my father to cancer within the Western medical system. That experience left me questioning conventional approaches and led me to @IIN, where I began exploring holistic health.
Since then, I’ve been on a continuous path of healing and self-care—physically, mentally, and emotionally—while managing ailments like sinus issues, migraines, and back pain.
💡 Sidenote: Earlier this year, I went through another pivotal detox, facing my migraines head-on without pain meds—I’ll share more on that next week.
Ayurveda has always been something on my radar. Before arriving, I asked God for a sign that I was on the right path—a yellow flower 🌼
And what’s the first thing I saw when I arrived? A bright yellow bloom welcomed me in. As if that wasn’t enough confirmation, I was assigned Room 9—my lucky number.
For those unfamiliar, Ayurveda is an ancient healing system based on balancing the three doshas:
After my consultation, I learned my constitution is 60% Vata, 30% Pitta, and 10% Kapha—which explains so much! My treatment plan focused on bringing balance through therapies, nourishing foods, and daily rituals.
One of my favorite treatments was Shirodhara, where warm oil is poured onto the third eye—one of the most deeply meditative, grounding experiences.
Beyond the treatments, everything about this place was incredible and has inspired me to start a 30-day detox beginning April 1st. Let’s see how that goes—eventually, I’ll return to @oneworldayurveda for a longer stay.
