Balance

Years ago, while traveling around the world, I realized how I have two sides to myself. The girl who likes to eat clean, do yoga, meditate, stay focused on working on oneself spiritually and mentally, and is passion-driven towards her career. And the girl that likes to let her hair down and go wild. During these periods, I recognized that I love both parts of myself but needed to balance both because, at times, I would go to extremes.

I implemented the 70/30 ratio rule to help me stay balanced and enjoy everything life offers without being critical. The 70/30 ratio means that 70% of the time, I'm working towards my career and learning ways to better myself. And 30% of my time, I used to do other things such as chilling by my pool or with friends, drinking a few beers, reading, cuddling my dog, napping, watching Netflix, and so on.

During the week, I try to stay consistent with the 70/30 ratio, which helps my scattered mind stay focused on my goals. And on weekends, I allow myself to be completely free, mixing in a bit of everything at whatever pace I decide. My freedom of choice!

From time to time, some of us, including myself, are working hard at our careers, and we forget to incorporate other things that also bring joy. Holding space between both ends of the spectrum is what I consider to be self-love.

Do you allow yourself to keep a healthy balance between work and play? Do you use guidelines or indicators to stay in balance between both?

Sending love & light

Lauren
