Setting Goals

Have you ever set too many goals and become so overwhelmed that you ended up on a downward procrastination spiral? How about making a list and then making another list to those lists? Sound familiar?

When setting goals, I've learned that it's good to embrace a few essential guidelines to achieve them.

Create Universal List: You may be someone like me who has bigger goals and dreams that eventually you would like to come to fruition. Regarding our bigger goals, I recommend creating a universal list, meaning a list you write out and then put away somewhere safe. Then, consider your ultimate goals and aspirations that you can always return to after taking care of smaller goals.

Set Daily Goals: Each day is a new opportunity to get shit done. The best way I have found to stay on task is to choose the top three things you would like to get done for the day.

Take Baby Steps: Start small, meaning to focus on one goal at a time. Trying to focus on too many things at once can confuse our minds and keep us stuck in procrastination.

It's all in the Details: Make the goal as detailed as possible. Ask yourself the who, what, why, and when questions. The more details you add, the more accurate the results will be.

Ask Questions: Is the goal attainable? Is the goal realistic? Is the goal measurable? Is the goal timely? You will want to answer these questions regarding your universal list or bigger goals and your daily or smaller goals. It will also help separate what is to be done in the present moment or at a further date.

Sending light & love
