Just Do It
Today, I was chatting with a friend, and we got on the topic of the classic Nike saying, "Just Do It!" It was about the thought and feeling state of perfectionism, otherwise known as overthinking. The issue with perfectionism is if we stay in this state, we never take action.
So afterward, I got to thinking about the things that stop us from leaping? Of course, one answer could be the fear of judgment of being seen, heard, and understood. Yet, ultimately these are three fundamental human needs that we crave.
The other reason that stood out was the fear of failure. When broken down to its inner core, it is that without failures in life, we never learn. And without being able to grow and learn from our mistakes, are we even breathing?
This brings me to my imperfect post, in which I struggled to get the proper lighting (my tripod ring light broke), re-recorded at least ten times, and when I finally got a decent recording, I realized that the aircon in the background sounded loud. So I said, "Fuck It," let's "Just Do It," and post it anyway!
As I mentioned last week, and now that I'm feeling better, I've decided to share more of my vulnerable side in my book. In the past, I had shared excerpts before through writing and thought it would be a fun experience to read to you guys every week.
Not only does it keep me accountable in the book writing process, but it also gives me the practice of speaking publicly. Besides the goal to finish the book, my after-the-book goal is to do more living speaking events. So I hope you guys enjoy my imperfect video!
Can you think of any part of your life that beckons to "Just Do It?" Thoughts and feedback, as always, are appreciated!
Much Love
Lauren
